Office Hours

My office hours are Friday 2pm - 4pm where I am available for students to drop in and discuss any aspect of their courses they wish.

About Me

I was born in Jedburgh, Roxburgh, Scotland, close to the border of England. When I was young I moved to Dundee, where I attended Monifieth High School and later on earned a BSc (Hons) in Applied Computing at the University of Dundee. I undertook four years of study at the Vision Research Group at the University of Dundee. I emerged dazed from my viva with a PhD but not before I began working in 2005 as a Demonstrator at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Leicester. After a brief sojourn elsewhere I am now back as a Teaching Fellow.

My thesis is on the automated assessment of total hip replacements from anteroposterior radiographs. If you are interested it can be viewed here.

Personal

Why not visit my personal website? There are all sorts of things there - including games for download!

Teaching

I am convening the following modules this year:-

Administration

I help co-ordinate the department's Open Days and UCAS Days, particularly the lab visits. I am also the department's BSc Induction co-ordinator. This means I organise the induction lectures and events, as well as ordering copious amounts of chocolate cake. Guess which part of the job I prefer?

Demonstrator Teaching

Whilst I was a demonstrator you may have seen me in one of the following courses:-

Publications

I have been lucky enough to publish extensively using material from my PhD.

Automated Assessment of Polyethylene Wear in Cemented Acetabular Components using Anteroposterior Radiographs of Total Hip Replacements (published in the Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics), Stuart Kerrigan, Ian W Ricketts, Stephen McKenna, Carlos Wigderowitz

Measurement of acetabular wear using intelligent ellipses,Stuart Kerrigan, Ian W Ricketts, Stephen McKenna, Carlos Wigderowitz
