How to find the Department of Computer Science: From the train station, you can either take a taxi or walk (15 minutes). If you take a taxi ask for the University of Leicester, Charles Wilson Building. The department is situated in the Mathematics and Computer Science building, which is near the place where the taxi will leave you (Entrance 2 - Charles Wilson tower). Facing the tower, turn to your right, leaving a large tree (or rather three trees) to your left. You should then see the Computer Science (Math and CS on older maps and signs) building: It is a low building (two floors) in between two towers (Attenborough and Engineering) in the square where the Union and the library are. If the weather is nice, you may enjoy the walk; these are the instructions: Getting from the railway station to the university: Turn left when you exit the station, up London Road. Cross to the other side at the first traffic lights and continue walking up. Turn right at De Montfort Street (at the corner you will see Tiffin's, one the best Indian restaurants). Turn left after the Belmont Hotel, just before the church that you can see, into what is called the "New Walk", a very nice pedestrian street. Walk up New Walk, cross the first traffic lights, and continue on "Upper New Walk" until you reach a Y. Take the right branch of the Y and reach a second set of traffic lights. Cross and turn right. Walk along the car park until you reach a gate. On the right hand side, you will see De Monfort Hall, a very nice concert hall that looks like a Masonic temple ... Cross the gate into Victoria Park. You will see some ugly towers: yes, that's the University of Leicester ... Continue walking towards the towers until you reach a small entrance into the campus. You will see a small house besides a red-brick tower (the Engineering department). Our department is the low building right next to the little house. There is a double door, but it is closed. You need to go to the opposite end of the building where the "front door" is.
