Version 0.4.2 of the workbench is now available for 7 different platforms!

The list of tools related to CommUnity is still short… But it is not empty!

The Workbench

The Workbench provides a graphical integrated development environment in which CommUnity programs can be written in the core language, run, and debugged. It also supports the configuration and reconfiguration of architectures of complex systems, as well as the management of a library of components and connectors.

The current version supports the design of a configuration of components, and the calculation of the equivalent program (which can then be executed).

The development of the workbench is being coordinated by Michel Wermelinger. The bulk of the effort has been under the responsibility of Cristóvão Oliveira, who has been assisted by José Aires and Mário Costa.

The workbench can be installed from here. Questions and feedback on its use should be addressed to Cristóvão.

The CDE

The CDE – Coordination Development Environment – supports architectural principles and coordination-based modelling primitives, as formalised over CommUnity, for software design over Java-based development platforms.

The CDE was developed and is being maintained as a joint effort between the CommUnity team and ATX Software. It can be loaded from here.

The use of the CDE is supported by a book on Advanced System Design using Java 2.
