Waders at the Tozaki-coast of Kasumigaura: April 11, 1998,

Dear Kantorians,

It is a migration season now. In Tozaki, Kasumigaura-machi, there are several Sandpipers visiting. On 11 April, I have only short time birding there.


Little grebe (Kaitsuburi) 20+ in one paddy
Little Egret (Ko-sagi) good breeding plumage with pink face
Intermediate Egret (Chyu-sagi) good breeding plumage with yellow face
Great Egret (Dai-sagi) good breeding plumage with green face
Yellow-nib Duck (Karugamo)
Teal (Ko-gamo)
Grey-faced Buzzard (Sashiba) 2+
Moorhen (Ban)
Coot (O-ban) many
Common Snipe (Ta-shigi)
Reeve (Erimaki-shigi) 2
Spotted Redshank (Tsuru-shigi) 80++ the main guest for the season, I saw
only a few in the last season. Well come back.

Japanese wagtail (Seguro-sekirei) .There is one fanny bird. The wagtail w=

almost the same to Motacilla alba leucopsis (Hoojiro-hakusekirei), but th=
ere
are also small white spots on its back. I heard its call. The bird was a
partial albino of Japanese wagtail.
