A Smew drake, Whoopers and a Ferruginous Duck
Ottonuma and Kashiwa-no-ha, Februari 11, 2000
Ikenaga-san had informed us about a Ferruginous Duck in Kashiwa. On Foundation Day we had a look at the duck. On the bike to Arakawaoki-station we passed Ottonuma. The usual assortement of ducks including 4 Whooper Swans and a male Smew could be found there.
In Kaswiwa there is a bus station at the west exit of the Joban-line station. From platform 2 there is a frequent bus connection to Kashiwa-no-ha Park located in the NW of Kashiwa city. Kashiwa-no-ha park has several ponds. The Ferruginous Duck was resting on the northwestern most water reservoir. As to be expected lots of photographers were present including several Kantorians: Ikenaga-san, Imai-san and Tokita-san.
The birds listed below are a rough impression.
Participants: Paula Severi and Fer-Jan de Vries.
