QAA Inspection May 2003
After a visit in May 2003 of the Government's Quality Assurance
Agency (QAA), the inspection team indicated in its verbal report
to the University that
- they had total confidence in the academic standards and
quality of learning opportunities;
- the Computer Science programme takes full account of the
requirements of the British Computer Society (BCS), and the
Government's Computing Benchmark;
- student support is good and comprehensive;
- quality management is impeccable and there is a
comprehensive policy for the enhancement of standards;
- students' views are taken fully into account by staff;
- final year projects are impressive, as is the comprehensive
guidance and support given;
- programme and module information is high quality;
- there is strong academic leadership.
The team also commended the friendly relationship between staff and
students, and the high level of attainment.
The QAA described their report as a "Paean of Praise",
and described their visit to Leicester as positive, and a pleasure.
